In the Gallery Collection, Peter is following his own impulse
to make exciting contemporary furniture without any particular adherence to the past. He is exploring the possibilities of design without heavy reference to what has gone before. These pieces are going to, for the most part, appear totally original with many innovative approaches based on the totality of his many years of woodworking experience.

BRUTALIST TABLE
DESCRIPTION
This table was inspired by the very direct experience as seen in the Brutalist period of architecture, where wood grain was used to give concrete a more human surface. In this table we have scarified the wood surface in order to bring the viewer a more organic interaction with the wood grain, which is enhanced by this process. Available with or without shelf.

TOTEM TABLE
DESCRIPTION
This is a variant on our Brutalist table, but with a slight addition in the legs of curved and tapering vertical lines, giving this piece a somewhat more primal and totemic look. Shown in scarified cherry. Available with and without a shelf.

THE SWEET SPOT
DESCRIPTION
I had a gorgeous piece of curly maple that I had sawn out from a friend’s tree. It was in my lumber loft for twenty five years. I finally took it out and asked myself, “What would be worthy of this beautiful piece of maple?” in terms of a table or bench base or legs, I wanted to make it asymmetrical in deference to my dyslexic nature. The result is very appealing.

This table is the embrace of my dyslexic nature that I have fought against my entire life. I have fully accepted the impulse to do the up-side-down and opposite at every turn, and remarkably . . . it really works.

Simple, Deconstructed
DESCRIPTION
This bedroom set was born out of the need to make the most simple example of a bed with the addition of one slanting line cut in a large rectangle of white oak, and applying those two pieces as footboard and headboard, with the bed posts following along. The bedside tables, while seemingly asymmetrical, meld nicely with the headboard posts. It is the most simple approach to something pretty basic, a bed, but with the application of one radical line.
