Cold River Furniture

If you are looking for a unique piece of furniture that you do not see in our Cold River Collection, we can design and build a piece according to your specifications and needs. We have over 35 years of experience in designing and building commissioned pieces for designers and collectors nationwide.

The design process begins with a phone call or e-mail discussion describing what you are looking for in terms of style, overall size, materials and the dimensions of the space the piece will occupy. We can work from photographs, sketches and descriptions. We specialize in guiding our clients through this process.

When you're ready to engage in the design process we can estimate an approximate budget for the piece you would like made. We then ask for a 10% design fee to cover the cost of the design process. We mail drawings to you for your approval (sometimes it takes two or three generations of drawings and a few conversations), and when you approve the design with the details finalized, we submit a fixed price. At this point we ask for a 50% deposit to cover material costs and the initiation of the project. Your project is put into our schedule upon receipt of your deposit. The remaining 50% will be due upon completion, prior to delivery.

If you are looking for a furniture style that is different from the Arts & Crafts, we can work in any furniture genre imaginable - from English Sheraton, Hepplewhite, Classical Chinese, Federal, Shaker, Arts and Crafts, Art Deco, and Post-Modern. Our custom designed furniture has been featured in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, in homes profiled in Architectural Digest and in residences featured in Interior Design Magazine. Peter was originally trained as an apprentice by a family of cabinetmakers who specialized in building classical reproduction furniture and restoring fine antiques for museums.
